Sheriff of Monmouthshire
This is a list of Sheriffs of Monmouthshire, which was created in 1536 but not fully settled until 1540.
On 1 April 1974, under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, the county of Monmouthshire, was abolished long with its and shrievalty replaced by the new county of Gwent and the new office of High Sheriff of Gwent.〔"Sheriffs appointed for a county or Greater London shall be known as high sheriffs, and any reference in any enactment or instrument to a sheriff shall be construed accordingly in relation to sheriffs for a county or Greater London." ()〕
